Not sure of VA's laws but you should probably have more to your plan then just a time limit.

May I ask how many pots are you fishing? Va gives you 8 hours to fish your gear...The max you can fish is 425...So if it takes you 1 minute to fish a pot,( If your pulling by hand ) that's 7 hours to fish 420 pots...
If your pulling with hydraulics, you should be done in 3 hours or less...Then I'll add 2 hours of run time...5 hours and your done...Just say'in

George, you can do 400 pots in 3 hrs?
And I agree, a time limit of 8 hrs on 425 pots is pleanty of time.

Ray...About 20 seconds per pot If you hustle, you can fish 420 just a tad over 3 hours...But 120+ per hour is average

LOL,I am one of those who never gets in a hurry,I would much rather pull and use the bait for 150 pots and still catch the same as the guys pulling 450.

Yep,even in the worst part of winter those pots would be going on the boat to be moved, got better things to do with my time than let the deckhands sit around and BS all day.

just watched the video...He's pulling and the mate is dumping, baiting and back over in the 23-28 second range....Still if you say 30 seconds per pot is 120 pots per hour....crabs were so thick this year I had pots set about every 50' in the creeks...No argument here...Just sayin...
No what takes a little more time is fishing them on a long line....This works this time of year when the recs are trollling for rock....Don't lose pots this way

More like 7 pots in 4 minutes, thats only 105 pots an hour...From the time he hooked the first pot until he hooked the last pot...Maybe I misscounted.. ::)He hooked the 1st pot 14 seconds into the video...Thats when I started counting... Thats still a good time to average tho..It's hard for anyone to keep a 120 pot per hour pace up for a average...If you average 100 per hour Average your Humping..
