I think even though all the fish died, there is good. I think it is telling us that the water clarity is getting better. But we did have a not so rainy spring so obvious the water would be clearer since no upstream sediment runoff aka allowin more plant growth in deeper water. Which means more cover and oxygen for the little fish. I am going with better clarity from conservation. I think they died from ice blocking sunlight, preventing plants in shallower waters to make oxygen to handle all the new fish. take it how you want it, lol thats my college geography education belief.
