Mother nature tried to cleanse the gene pool a little but the Coast Guard (God bless them) got in her way.

16 ft boat, 10 miles from shore.  Are they sure they weren't Cuban refugees?  Either that or plain stupid.

Here not so lucky.  I caught something on the local news this that a boat capsized and 3 or 4 dead with one survivor.  Nothing on the 5 o'clock news.  I'll have to research more.

I'd do that in a heart beat weather permitting...  Heck, I can be 10 miles from shore in the lower bay in no time.

Last year a commercial was washing traps on the boat when a T storm brewed and he took a wave over the stern.  Went down in a heartbeat.  Had to swim 4 miles to shore then walked another 2 before he got to a phone.

Another Rec shrimper took a wave over the stern and went down just 1 mile from shore.  He swam to land and kissed the ground.

My boat sits pretty high off the water.  Was in 5' seas last year with a T storm and road it out OK.

Boating accident happened off the mouth of the river "Venice".  Only one who survived was a 35 yo woman.

T storm I'm talking about merged with another.  Winds over 30 MPH.  Later saw on 5 o'clock news how bad it really was. Scary to think I was out in that weather.

We all take chances once we untie that mooring line.  Just wish I could untie that ball and chain then I'd really be taking some chances.  Grin
