BALTIMORE (AP) - A teenager charged with two others in the racially motivated beating of a black fisherman in a Baltimore park was sentenced to 10 years in prison as a part of a plea deal.
Nineteen-year-old Zachary Watson was sentenced Wednesday to 85 years with all but 10 years suspended. Baltimore Circuit Judge Lynn K. Stewart warned Watson he would serve the full sentence if he commits any offenses during a five-year probationary period following his release.
Prosecutors say the three beat 77-year-old James Privott (pruh-VAHT') while the victim was fishing. Privott lost two teeth in the attack.
Twenty-nine-year-old Calvin Lockner, a white supremacist who goes by the nickname "Hitler," received a 31-year sentence in September. A 17-year-old was tried in juvenile court and sent to a reform school.
