I am sure it will be another good season, hope I get a few dozen over 6.5 in the Barnegat this summer too. They are usually few and far between though.  Surprising though, the record Blue Crab in NJ was caught in Bayonne at 8.75" near NY in Bayonne, NJ.  Anyone know the record in NY???

I was wondering the same thing. Last year we didn't catch anything over 7.5 from what I remember. Maybe even smaller than that.

Last year was our first season, and we went in poughkeepsie, cold spring, and beacon.

Look a few threads down, and read around in the 2010 Hudson River thread. Lots of locations listed in there, where people go.

Also here is some good reading for you guys.  Make sure you check the graph on sizes caught from 2004-2009 and read the excerpt about the same crab being caught twice.  Wild stuff

Your goal should be not to catch 500 crabs, but to catch a tagged crab and have Rich (Tattoo) mount it for you.   Wink

to be honest, that was one of our "side goals" too. haha. to catch a tagged crab. And if we get any monsters this year, i might just have to get it mounted.   Cool

Nice.

We'll have to get you to take a trip down to South Jersey to do a little crabbing one day this year.

One trip would kill off a 1/3 or so of his goal.    Grin
