Happy Spring everyone...or at least it is suppose to be....Started smiling at my traps last week when it hit about 65 - 70 degrees in southern Dutchess. Can't wait....Maybe I'll start fishing for bait this week. Look foward to all the reports. Great bunch here!

Hi everyone! I am new on this forum and I am looking forward to learning from it. I am located near the mouth of the ct river specifically cornfield point area. I like to do alot of crabbing in the creeks in that area. Anybody have any luck over there?

WOW 61 replies to the topic and season has not started yet,you guys are after my heart. Just a heads up, think about bait now,if your worried about using chicken as bait and the DEC bans it, try and get herring this spring . they relaxed the law this year so you could transport the herring in your car, bring it home and freeze em. without feeling like a criminal. today i had a chance to see if they were in and yea they were there, cast netted 37 in 2 hrs. i was happy i was the only one around. but be sure to wear polarized sunglasses it helps alot to see what your throwing at. make sure that they don't stock trout in the trib your going to or your get fined. the crabs love the herring and its a natural bait. and they're fun to catch i also pickle them, and use the heads for the tomato garden. well i rambled again, still have about 2 to 3 months to wait. buts todays early surprise of herring i thought i share. just another thing to have fun with. as far as i know, chicken is still legal in the hudson, so thats what we're gonna use for the most part. If i can get some herring, i wouldn't mind trying that at all. haha.
only a couple more months left! cant wait!!

Hey PolkColtsFan..I would love some where how pointers for trout..Never had any luck w/ trout. Tried yesterday in Hopewell with spinners and worms....saw them hitting the top of the water but not one bite. Left and went to a nearby lake...threw in a lure (looks like a Locus) two largemouth bass 10 and 14 inches on first couple of cast. Wish it was the end of June...they would have been on the dinner table.
