Looks like the heat kept the crabbers inside in the AC....Is that possible? Was hoping to hear that soemone brought in the mother load.

Was at CSP will dmurph and hxv_vdubb yesterday. Still only 4 keepers! Probebly a dozen and a half small ones. Just tossed the 4 keepers back. Hopefully within the next couple weeks it'll pick up real good.

CSP again last night from around 5-9. Still getting a lot of small ones, but finally got enough keepers to making it worth it to take some home. A whoping 5! haha. 2 of them, however, (pulled up in the same trap, on the same pull), were just shy of 7"!

Hey pyboat....I am assuming they were not from shore. I wish I had a boat. Anyway I was in verplank saturday from about 2 PM till 10:30 PM and only came home with 6 keepers. Threw back about 3 females and about a dozen or so that were so small they almost got out between the wires of the traps on thier own. Lost two on a drop line because my net wasn't long enough. Just a slow day but fun anyway.....Just me and my daughter. Thanks for the CSP update Polks...we were gonna stop thier saturday but decided to keep traveling further south. And on the salt front they are reporting that it is at River Mile 73....just south of poughkeepsie.!

hey Brian no luck with the Rooster Tail but finally caught a bunch with night crawlers off a bridge on Robinson lane. Haven't tried for trout in a while. My 2 daughters (ourtwobeans) caught three decent largemouth bass on opening Bass Day. A 12", a 13" and a 15" between them. and one was on a Barbie pole..LMAO. Now all attention is on crabbing. I may need to head out for some more sunnies in the next week or two. Maybe I'll bump in you one night at CSP. Steve

Went crabbing on the Hudson River yesterday 8/6/11 at 0800 in Peekskill. A little better than last week about 15 keepers but still not up to par. Lots of smalls. Things are looking up. Hope to see improvement soon. Maddog41 out.

Went down to Peekskill Thursday with 5 traps (sunnies, chicken, lobster), three hours on the rising tide, and got a bunch of little ones and 9 keepers, four on our last pull. It's going to be a good September.

Haven't been able to get out in a while, but finally was back at the CSP with dmuprh and hxc_vdubb. Ended the night with 25 keepers, and somewhere around 2 dozen throw backs. Also landed a 7lb catfish, a 3 lb catfish, 2 small catfish, and 3 eels. Tried some eel as bait as some on here suggested, and had no luck. Chicken legs only for us.

Hey Poks.....25 keepers is a decent haul. How many traps over what time frame? I wanted to try out on a boat tomorrow but it may be a little windy. So you never did say where in Peekskill you have gone.

I wasnt the one who said about going in peekskill, never crabbed there. We were using 7 box traps, and 2 handlines. Got there around 1, stayed till around 9. Still not great, but, definetly better then it has been. Hopefully we'll be able to have a real solid day soon. Still haven't bumped into you down there, maybe one day.

Went to CSP Friday night with one of my 2 beans from 11PM - 3AM. 10 traps w/chicken. Tide on its way out. Caught 16 keepers including one tagged. 4.5 to 6.75 (largest). At least three pulles came up with two crab in a trap. But somettimes came up empty on 2 - 3 pulls in a row. Overall nice night good time and crabs tasted great! Finally! Now to wait till Irene goeas away....Might be able to crab in the streets today...LOL

Took a ride down to Peekskill, the scene is surreal. Large floating patches of aquatic vegetation (water chestnut?) and pumpkins (!) moving with the tide and currents. Flotsam and jetsam everywhere. A cargo contained was lodged against Annsville pier. When the tide started to drop, I could see the line between the clear creek water and the brown river water. Stayed a few hours and got 5 (barely) keepers and several little ones.

last night at CSP only yeilded 3 keepers, and a couple throwbacks. Just as it was starting to pick up, the storm killed it.

that bites looks like the makings of a real bad year...what makes it worse is that last year was an awesome year. I am keeping my finger crossed for at least one more good outing
