I'll put a thermometer on the bottom of the creek the first week of April. Water temp has to get around 70* for a week before I catch anything. Last year I caught the first one on May 4th and the water temp was 75*.

That makes sense because it's common knowledge there are no crabs in Virginia.

Jack you are just wasting your time. We all know there are no crabs in VA. We have been told that so many time from you it is ingrained into our brain. Maybe you will catch a mud crab or horse shoe crab but you have better luck of getting hit by lightning then catching a blue crab. Good luck.  Roll Eyes  laugh

I"ve been running two pots in the York River at West Point and haven't seen anything but a few small crabs.  Water is getting warmer... should be here soon

Well, I finally hit some crabs.  Pulled five pots yesterday and got three dozen crab and quite a few #1 Jimmys.  Things are looking better in West Point.
