The founding fathers made the right to keep and bear arms second only to the freedom of speech in the Bill of Rights. A place where the government would represent the people, not repress them.

  As Americans, we have the luxury of living in a developed society where we can develop ourselves through education and critical debate. We have a responsibility to question ideas and confront issues that we have a stake in as citizens of this nation, be that the rights of yourselves or the rights of others when threatened by the state. Firearms are, first and foremost, a tool to secure your life and the lives of others, against any aggressor.

  I support responsible civilians having access to the same tools of Law Enforcement to affect the same ends. Securing and defending ourselves, our loved ones and innocent people if the situation arises.

All Army bases are..

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Beginning in March 1993, under the Clinton administration, the army forbids military personnel from carrying their own personal firearms and mandates that "a credible and specific threat against [Department of the Army] personnel [exist] in that region" before military personnel "may be authorized to carry firearms for personal protection."

Saw a report today that in the last 3 decades the number of "Mass killings" with firearms has remained the same even while the last gun ban was in existance.  It made no difference

Unfortunately, it took only until the Boston crowd faced paying the tab for the Revolution for them to begin to reinstitute those abuses, including "taxation without representation" on the farmers of western Massachusetts (Google "Shay's Rebellion"). No surprise there, unfortunately, extortion and oppression by government to maintain the self-perceived entitlements of some elite or other are intrinsic elements in its nature.
