Hi All,
I just moved into the Jacksonville area, and am looking to get back to crabbing.  I used to crab in NC, at the sound out by Wilmington, and want to start up again here.  I went out last weekend out by the Naval Base (very north), early in the morning, and at high tide, only got 2 crabs.  I live just south of 295, so am hoping for some places a little closer to home, and with a bit better results.  Any tips about locations would be greatly appreciated!
I've done hand-line crabbing before, but my friend gave me a new trap (looks like a professional one, big square, with four entrances and exit holes for the smaller crabs to leave) that I would really like to test-drive.   This same friend and I used get about 30-40 crabs in one afternoon, and I'm hoping to get that kind of thing going again.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

BTW, I did see an old thread about this thing, but I'm hoping that there might be someone with more recent info.. I think that the recent rains might have affected the salinity levels around here, too, if anyone knows, please tell me!

Thanks again!

Hi, I just moved here myself and have the same question.  Any guidance since June?
