Depends on the size of the crabs.  I've caught large ones where a bushel was 4 dozen, or smaller ones where the bushel was 6 dozen.

and how flexible the bushel basket/ lid is  Grin  a bushel basket is 1.25 cubic feet if that helps 9.3 gallons or 35 liters.

This may sound odd. The guy @ the seafood store sells them by the pound. And said tie bushel would be about 50#  @ $2.50 per pound??  How does this sound??

125 sounds somewhat reasonable for a packed bushel of decent size crabs. dunno your area, but seems like i've seen prices lower and higher around.

It depends on the size of the crabs.  Bigger crabs, less to a bushel.  Smaller crabs, more to a bushel.

Ask Gene, he's the one who has them. Do you need the whole bushel at one time?  Roll Eyes

used to catch crabs in Louisiana and put them in seafood boxes fifty pound to the box and most boxes had from 43 to 48 crabs.
If you got six dozen to a bushel you got huge crabs. One's should run around  7 dozen

Yeah those 10"ers will fill up a box in no time... Grin

I always thought it depended on the time of day.   I always find there are zero crabs in my baskets first thing in the morning, but as the day goes on - I find there to be more and more crabs in the baskets.  If I could find the baskets full before I every left the dock, I'd be happy to take them straight to the wholesaler.   Grin
