I'm trying to find a place to buy a bushel of crabs near Houston, but can't seem to find a place. Any ideas?

Just look back thru the posts for Tx crabbers. Some in Galveston and down Corpus way. PM or e-mail them. I'd imagine down Galveston way or Freeport etc.

Where in Katy are you. I used to live in Katy itself. Across the tracks in town on Aster. Across from the High School then. Late 80s..........

You might try the seafood outlets in Seabrook.  There are several on Waterfront Drive, just north of the Kemah Boardwalk.  They have had them when I bought crawfish, I'm not sure of the prices, since I have never had to buy any.

I agree. Kemah is the place to go. Not the side of the brigde that has all the tourist stuff. The north side of the Kemah bridge on hwy 146. Try Golden Seafood or Rose's Seafood. Both are good places. They pretty much have the same crabs so compare and also shop around the other places around there. There are about 5 or 6 markets on that street. I have bought crabs, shrimp and crawfish there for about 20 years. Wouldn't go anywhere else. I am in Maryland now and the prices for crabs are crazy. Rose's Seafood and Golden Seafood sell their crabs live by the pound (about $2.40 per pound) and it's self serve. You pick them out and they weigh them for you. If you plan on going on a weekend go really early, like when they open or at least before 10am because they sell out or are really busy. I am from League City, Tx and visit my parents there twice a year and I always go back to get my seafood as soon as I get there. Plus I usually bring back about 10 to 20 pounds of shrimp. Never got anything bad at these businesses. These are respectable places and have a reputation in the community for good quality seafood. You won't be disappointed. Good luck, John

Thank you for the replies. I found a great place on Bolivar, it is worth the drive. They are $9 a dozen. I have bought quite a few bushels from them and he sells Stone Crab Claws $4/lb...the name of the place is Joe's Crab and Shrimp. Joe says he just does it for fun not the money. They are great. I only buy the males and they are usually the number 1"s. I will post a pic from our crab feast when football season started.
