I want to set up a small scale shedding operation---4x8 closed system.
A couple questions:

1. Can someone point me to some online guidelines for setting up a closed system?

2. What pump/filtration system would you reccomend?

Just get an aerator and use that. Crabs shed VERY VERY fast and it is cheap. The down side it won't filter water so that probably needs to be changed every two or three days. But they work well small scale.

Jim all you need is an old salt water tank with a sump style filter.  Check craigslist got mine for less then $100.  It's small but does the trick.

I've had some take up to a week or ten days to shed...air stone is not enough unless you change water everyday..2 days at the most

After testing my boat I have concluded that Jeff's weight exceeds the recommended loading capacity.
