The Colington Cafe is a nice place, located near the Wright Brothers Memorial. It's not touristy and they don't advertise... it's reputation is by word of mouth only. Reasonably priced gourmet food. We eat there every year.

Steve,  I agree... collington cafe is great gourmet at medium price.. local secret.. but I would suggest to make a reservation if you plan to go as it is not a big place and is usually very busy...I usually take my wife their for our wedding anniversary every year we go down ... til this year...
and every year they give us a free split of cahmpagne for our anniversary.....
Undecided  and it is a stone throw from Gene the crab guy.....   Wink

yeah when I went it was OK at best... too $ money for what you got... froggy dog was OK,  and right on only night life you make is your own.... that is why I like it down Hatteras Island......  quiet beach for the beach's sake..fish, drink, boogie board etc.....  get away from it all........  see the lighthouses, collect shells, drink some more beer .. 4 x 4 on beach etc..... BTW,  take any liquor you wil be drinking with you on stop at one of the state ABC stores in Kitty Hawk, KDH, Nags Head as once you cross over onto Hatteras Island you can only buy beer and wine.........not hard liquor..... and most if not all restuarants only serve beer and wine too.
