Do you clean your crabs or prepare them live?    This is for when preparing crabs to pick them, not for other recipes (like sauce, etc. )   Vote in the poll and post your reasons in the string.

These are crabs you purchased from a seafood wholesaler, right?   As we all know, there are no crabs in Virginia.   Grin

It's easy to argue with Phil Hartman.

Me:   That's the way it is.

Phil:  (corpse-like silence)

Me:   I take it from your lack of response that you are admitting I'm right?

Phil:   (corpse-like silence)

Me:   It's tough being right all the time.

Wife:  Phil, I'd like a divorce.

Phil:  (corpse-like silence)

Wife:   I'll take it from your silence that you're ok with my decision?

Phil:   (corpse-like silence)

Wife:   OK.   My lawyer will be in touch...

We clean them then steam them with some J.O spice.
When that Spice steams into the meat there's nothing better.
My mouth is starting to water now.

IMO, it's a shame to take a wonderful sweet Maryland crab and clean it before cooking. The spice, whatever kind you prefer, is to compliment the meat, not overpower it, cleaning first allows too much spice on the meat.
Thanks,

Guts really compliment the meat,  but to each his/her own... Cool
