Was watching the Food Network last night and they did a feature on a place in Baltimore, named Phillips that makes and sells a frozed product call Crab Slammers that uses blue crab claw meat. Went to their web site to check for a local retailer but they're not sold in my area. Has anyone here sampled them, they looked good to me.

I have never eaten Crab Slammers - however over my lifetime I have eaten at Phillips. Early in their history I liked eating there because it was GOOD Local Seafood. Since they have grown larger I think the local food supply can no longer meet the demand and they import seafood from all over the world. This turned me off and I no longer patronize them.

I agree Kerry.  Phillips that I remember in OC was GREAT!

"In 1990, son Steve Phillips started chapter three in the history of the family business by finding a way to satisfy the growing demand the restaurants had for quality crab meat. He discovered that there was blue swimming crab in Southeast Asia "

Here is the Phillips Co. history. Interesting read for me cause I ate my first crab cake there.....  http://www.phillipsfoods.com/about-Phillips-Retail/legend-of-phillips.aspx

That's the one Jack, it was "To die for". Had to visit there when in OC. Not so today.

Also, no longer at the Inner Harbor.  Bubba Gumps is coming in to take their place.

Some years back Phillips had a restaurant @ White Marsh Mall...    They opened without steamed crabs on the menu, but latter added them...     The crabs were shipped there pre-steamed and they resteamed/heated up/seasoned on demand...    They claimed they were steamed at the Inner Harbor restaurant, but one may never know if they were shipped across State lines already steamed ??

Phillips is moving to the old ESPN zone/Power Plant place.
I think they did it to get out of being under the management group that took over Rouse Company.  They really put the screws to their tennants.

Would that be the Genreal Growth Properties??    They bought up The Rouse Company stock in the buy out...   Rumor has it, they never paid any property taxes either....

Yeah you never know CC55, a few of the picking houses down here used to send freshly steamed crabs in wax bushel boxes up to a few places in Md. Heck I used to pick them up for the freight company I worked for and some were still warm. Technically it's illegal to ship live open product with cooked product, but w/e works  Tongue Embarassed Think it's supply and demand.
