HELP???

I'm using crab pots with 30 foot of rope tied to each one. I use bunker that a poke a few holes in them, then chuck the traps in the water (pray) and wait for a while before checking them. I see a lot of crabbers are using boats, is this the way to go in Jersey anymore??? I remember crabbing with pops about 20 years ago we never had boats and you couldn't keep up with the crabs!! Am I wasting my time standing on dry land??? Plus I still got some folk here in Maurice River telling me I'm still a little early to be crabbing Is this true??

Boat is the way to go these days. Most people have multiple stacking traps with bouys. Can cover a lot of area until you find a good spot. It may be a little early for the Maurice river. I did ok in September last year. I been thinking of giving it a try in the next week or 2 or 3? I will post how I did. Good Luck.
