OBX/IBX Relocation

HI Ya"ll.

My Wife and I are starting to look at real estate in the OBX/IBX area to relocate to after our retirements next summer.
We love to fish and crab, and We are looking for a water front home with its own boat dock. We will purchase a boat after the move. We do not need any gated communities or HOA's. So my question is this. What locations on the various sounds, rivers are best suited for our needs? We will be in KDH in september for our 9th year in a row and may have to contact GENECRABMAN again as we did last year for a bushel.Gene knows were the best all round seasonal fishing and crabbing is and I hope He can advise. Any advice from our future neighbors will be greatly appreciated.
