most crab houses use steam under pressure to cook crabs......my pots do a good job, but lose steam because of irregularities on the edges.....has anyone used of something in the way of a heat tolerant gasket to help keep the steam in the pot Huh

Sometimes I set a brick on my lid to help hold it down. You want to make sure your seal is not too complete if you do not have a pressure vent or you'll have a bomb.

I use a somewhat thick layer of newspaper on top of the pot, and then set the lid on.  Seems to help a lot.

Are you really in that much of a hurry to get your crabs steamed? The crabhouses use pressure steamers because the need volume steamed in a short period of time. What do expect to save...5 or 10 minutes on 2 bushel of crabs?
