Carolina Beach/ Kure Beach Crabbing spots??

So Im looking for a place to crab in the Kure beach area. I called the pier there and the guy seemed that he thought I was nuts when I asked if I could crab fish off his pier. We did this in VA many times, with great success. But apparently not an NC thing? Anyway, where can I take my boys and throw out a recreational crab pot? is there a pier anywhere in the inlet area? any ideas? they want to go this week!! do I need to throw a chicken on a rope and do it the old school way in NC? :)  Please advise if you can....impatient kids waiting lol
