No better place to be!

After a week in the Outer Banks I have to say that it's nice to be home! OBX is beautiful but it's not like the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I have one day of vacation left (tomorrow), can anybody guess what I'm going to do. That's right, I'm going crabbin'! I heard there is some weather heading our way so I'll try to get a dozen or so in the morning to get my crab fix for the week. I talked to 3 or 4 seafood dealers in Rodanthe and Avon and they were having a terrible time getting crabs. The ones they are getting are small and light.

Man, a great day at the Narrows. Almost a full bushel by 7 AM. I was back home before the family was up. I caught 3 or 4 Gigantic crabs. They were mutants or something because they were 8" 8.5". The rest were all 6" or over after I started culling out the 5.5's. I'll post some pics when they come out of the steamer here in a few minutes. It's a little early for eating crabs (10 AM) but the table is set and I'm starting to get hungry. Oh well!

Crab a Lot
Lusby hardware in Prince Frederick, Md carries all sizes of steamers. I bought one 2 years ago that will steam over a bushell and a half and they had larger. If I remember correctly, I think I paid about $120 for it but it is heavy and it keeps me from steaming a lot of small pots.
