Just wondering what size chain and what length are people using for 1200 ft trotlines?   I have  3 ft of 3/16" glavanized chain every 300 feet just to keep it down.  (chain at 300 ft, 600 ft, 900 ft).

That's a lot of chain......I use 16"-18" of 3/16" on each end of my 1200' line. I have the line cut at 600' and have 2 #2 brass snaps connecting the 2 halves. I really think you have WAY too much non-essential weight on your line. JMO

You may be right...the line runs perfect except maybe 20 ft before the chain it comes up much more verticle...but other wise runs great....I guess I just cautioned on the side of more chain is better to keep the line in place on the bottom and make sure the bait was on the bottom at all times.
