I hit them just right. Not to much cayenne to burn your tongue but just enough to tingle your lips.

Looks like a good crop of soft shells to come. Are they pricey in New Orleans now? My brother just bought a fresh one for $7 in Galveston Saturday. The seafood shop owner was apologetic over the price. Craig

Elusive? I was led to believe they clutter the bottom like rats clutter NYC's sewer system.

Hey, I knew what y'all were talking about! Old Grouchy and family always referred to the ones about to shed as "busters" - as in just about to bust outta the shell. Back in the (relative) Dawn of Time, when we would go dip netting in the flats off Eastern Neck Island, his mother was always in charge of any busters we got. She had her own basket and tube and would keep shifting them around in the basket as they sloughed out.

After constantly seeing your crabbing reports, since I crab in the Galveston Bay complex in Texas, I'm starting to think I might need a non resident Louisiana fishing license. Our Texas crab population seems down to me in both crab numbers and size. I think they've all migrated to Louisiana.

Gotcha... A buster here is just that... The carapace has already busted open from the apron. I keep 5 gallon buckets on the boat so I can put the busters into water right away. Other wise they die before getting home.

Com on guys. Here in Louisiana we have plenty of water so we can fill our pots to the top. 1 inch of water in a pot means you either didn't pay your water bill or you have a hole in your pot. Ronnie
