Made a trip to rbm Tuesday with a friend, showed up around 6:45 and was 3rd in line for rentals.  Made friends with the two other parties, very nice people. Non bca members.  Low tide set for 730am Got to the first spot between the two bridges and had to work for the first couple keepers. Size was not there early on. Moved again with similar results but still managed about 20 by 9:00.  Knowing the tide was moving I made a quick move across the river by the half mile bridge(i think thats the road) we dropped anchor and began a 4 HR slaughter of 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 inchers. Even managed 4 in a trap all keepers. 10x10 captain Bruce topless, I guess size doesn't matter Wink using 6 handlines and 4 traps between the two of us we pulled in 111 keepers for the day. Probably caught 2 dozen or more keeper females as they were out in full force. All females were returned to the water. Plenty of shorts probably caught well over 200 for the day. Experienced the shy crabs you were referring to, jump off early don't know how many times that happened to us. It was a great trip, ended the day at 1:30 and had the joy of cleaning all 111 crabs. But cooked 2 1/2 dozen in gravy with spaghetti and it made it all worth it.

Yeah your gonna slam em. I used chicken and bunker. I ran out of bait and probably could have gotten more if I could have kept the bait on the lines fresh. It truly made a difference when a fresh piece of chicken was put on a line. There were times the crabs grabbed the bait before it could touch the bottom. That river is lined with crabs

Half mile bridge? Do you mean the Rt. 35 Bridge or all the way out to the Oceanic Bridge?

I forgot to mention that while we were out there the water police showed up and made the guys crabbing off the bridge clear their nets from the channel. Don't think it was too long after he left that they went back to what they were doing.
