I have been buying crabs for resale from a distributor. It seems to me that i am having a higher than expected mortality rate. Upon arrival i am getting about 18 dead from a bushel. does this seem high in this case. I know that when i crab i come home with maybe 1 or 2 dead after a long day and most of them are from injury.I realize mine are fresh caught, but i wasn't sure if what i am getting is par for the course.

The distributor tells me that for the last couple weeks local crabbing (grasonville area) has fallen of badly and they are buying from 6 states to meet demand. No peelers being caught for live softies etc. I know the Wye has fallen off (as far as rec crabbers go). Does this make sense. I know the comms know where to go to get 'em.

Can anyone point me to locale MD supply?
Thanks for any help!

I am just getting started and it is mostly a weekend activity right now in a shopping center lot. I have been buying about 6-10 bushel per weekend and expect it to get to at least 20. I am close to landing a crab night at a local pub during the week. I am willing to drive an hour to meet for pick up as nec. Please contact me thru this site privately so we don't violate any selling crabs rules or whatever.
Thanks for the info on the dundalk location.
