Last Year I got the crabbing bug in Martha's Vineyard.  I was able to just use a dip net and scoop bigs crabs out of Tisbury Great Pond in Martha's Vineyard.

I returned this year and was a little disappointed at the lack of crabs. The crabs were there but just not as plentiful and smaller.
The water seems warmer this year which could have something to do with the lack of crabs by the shore.

I was still able to catch about one 6" crab per 1-2 hour session using a dip net.  Last year was more like 6-12 per session.

I switched to chicken on a line and found the bigger crabs were hiding in the deeper - colder water.  I caught 2 in one session and two got away.

I also caught two big crabs that were mating!  I threw them both back - still attached!!

Heading to Farm pond next week in Oak Bluffs.  I'll let you know how it goes. . .
