It works that way here in PA. The Pa Game Commission Officers rights out way even our State Police rights......

Will they take a buggy away from an Amish farmer who has been doing whatever he wants whenever he wants and has been for hundereds of years?

If he's caught with heroin in the buggy, yes.

Poachers should be treated like drug pedlers. They can lose their vehicle or even their home when caught. Illegal poaching- loss of boat, no matter who owns it. Transporting - lose your vehicle and if boat attached- both are gone. Illegal catch at home, confiscate the house! Soon they lear, well in less than 60 arrests!

I thought they were talking poaching compared to drugs, not being caught with drugs.  Amish farmers can shoot just about anything compared to the regular joe hunter with a state license. Why?  What about the guy that gets busted for not having a license fishing, but there are license free zones in the city?
What were the other 60 violations? Did he have 6 undersized crabs instead of 5?
I think there was much more info at the trials to allow a jugde to let this keep happening. He may have had boats taken away, but got another.
As far as the drugs, it's bad everywhere.

Unless things have changed a great deal in Pa since I moved south the PA Game Commission does have more authority than the state police and the Amish were required to follow the game laws. I know the Amish have been arrested for hunting on posted land as late as last year. Poachers of any game are not only stealing from others legally after a catch but of all residents of a state. They harm the resource. Anyone can make a mistake but difficult to make 60 mistakes in a decade.

I read that they caught some of them.  The DNR. bugged their boat, and someone in DNR. told the poachers about the bug, and they found it.  Anyhow, according to the Sunpapers, some were fined, some had liscense suspended, but they were notified before the verdict went down, and they transferred their liscense to their sons, or daughter, whichever they had.  All in all, they got a slap on the wrist.  The judge should be ashamed of himself, probably never been fishing.  Dnr also found about a mile of gill nets anchored near the bay bridge, full of rotten fish. Cry

There are criminals in every occupation not just commercial fishing.Poachers should be procecuted for there crimes and so should all criminals so that honest people dont have to suffer from the actions of others.

Should have shoved one of those transmitters down a rockfishes mouth when the first net was found, and then when they came to retrieve the net they would have got popped.

same as in jersey.I believe that conservation officers have the right to basically search anything, anytime ,anywhere. As long as they have reason to belive that there can be some kind of illegal fish or game being concealed.

Thats way too much Power for an egomanic to have in my opinion.......So you think it would be OK if you wife and a few of her friends were riding around and a "CONSERVATION OFFICER" could for What ever reason stop them, make em get Out of the vehicle and be questioned for hours? My Pregnant wife was stop and harassed by NC Marine Patrol several years ago, just because she was driving in my Pickup truck..She got stopped and had to stand in the road(A Busy Road) while she was questioned and the truck was searched, FOR NO REASON other than it was My Truck...Would you like to have State Troopers bust in your door in the early morning hours too?  Some of these guys love doing stuff like this......They don't need that much power..It's a [dang] shame Drug Dealers have more RIGHTS than someone catching or hauling a crab or Fish....

Agreed, drug dealers and murders have more rights and are treated way too well. However, anyone that busts into my door in the middle of the night will be carried out. No matter who for what reason, best knock.

Didn't work out too well for the slightly off his rocker guy in Centreville a few years ago. Two young cops busted down his locked door WITHOUT a warrant AFTER he told them he was armed, for playing his radio too loud. Result - two dead cops and the guy in prison were he supposedly died of natural causes very shortly after.
