Roller Crabbing

Anyone ever heard of roller crabbing? From what I understand it's a method of going after mainly soft shells. It's a wide net with a roller in the front used while wading in shallow water.  The roller is to push down the grass and expose the crabs.

Anyone with info on where to get the nets and where to go?

     Actually i've also been looking for the nets for several years after i saw them catch 1 1/2 bushels on a sand bar.

A bushel and a half of softshells!?!?!  Ya know how many samiches that'd make?!?!  Lessee, two crabs per samiche (2), times three meals a day (6), times 7 days a week (42), times......whoa!!.......died and gone to heaven.

   heh heh ... Crabpop, i don't know the excact count up, but it was about half and half(soft shells and hard shells).  and yes it was a beautiful sight.!!!!

  :i believe this net is actualy called a crab scrape,and from what ive come to understand is they are being frowned upon because of the dame to the  floor from rolling across all the vegetation and digging up.

  It's too bad I can't find many grassbeds, if any at all, to find those softies.
