I'll be crabbing off the peir on 7/22....I'm curiuos if anyone has done anything off the peir recently.  I saw posts about Trixies, but looks like they were crabbing from boats.  Last year was [Sam Hill], 1 legal crab from 6AM-11AM....don't want to deal with that ever again.  Any info would greatly be appreciated.   Thanks!

We made a trip out there this weekend.  We got there at 7am ( a little late ) but it seems like it'll be a decent season.  In 4 hours, we had about 6 keepers (decent size) and about 10 billion little babies.  I'm sure it'll get better later as these little guys feast on all the bait being thrown at them and fatten up, but it does get crowded there.  Some of the people I spoke to were there at 5am.  Pretty crazy.  Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply tgreddy,  I usually get there around 5ish....how did the people do whom got there at 5?  Maybe I'll try for an hour and then run and rent a boat if it's not working out....6 crabs in 4 hours aint gonna cut it.

The people who were there at 5 got about 12 by the time I got there so you figure they were pulling 6 an hour...which isn't too bad, but everyone was complaining about the 10 billion baby crabs we caught...don't know how the boaters were doing but as for the pier...it'll get better.

Friday 7/22....8 traps, crabbed from the dock 5:30-6:30....3 keepers.  Decided to rent at Trixies, went to marker 40, picked up 32 from 7:30-12.

7/23 had a fluke torni out of Shark River....saw numerous egg filled females on the surface in the ocean a ways off the beach....maybe they were just trying to get away from the nude beach.  Smiley
