Hi folks! I am getting married this coming Monday (8/22) down in beautiful Ocracoke! We will be staying on the island for a week and have already rented a boat. We are looking to do a lot of recreational fishing, crabbing, etc.

Can anyone suggest some good spots/tips for any of the following (hopefully near Ocracoke):
•   Crabs (blue crab / stone crab)
•   Clams
•   Scallops (are these in season?)
•   Flounder / Fluke
•   Shrimp (not sure if this is possible around this area or not)

As well, feel free to suggest any other species to try for inshore (with a boat) or from the surf.

Private message me if you would like to keep the info private. I will not share the info with anyone; I am just trying to get as much info as possible to make this one the most memorable weeks of our lives!

Thank you in advance!

Shrimping? At least where I live you can cast net for them.....but really it's a pita unless shrimp are thick or in shallows behind Ocracoke (never had much luck). Most shrimp are caught via trawlers or hand pulled net behind a small boat. Scallops, hmmm further to the north like Va n up. Oh and deeper.
I agree with Flounderpounder....north end is best for  no pun intended "Flounder". Along with the spanish mackeral running you might snag a King Mack or Yellow Fin tuna.(maybe) Also running ....if you fish closer to shore and back side of island are Spots, Croaker, Red Drum, Sea Mullet (good eating) Pompano .....Jack Cerval (off shore ..other side of breakers)  Black Drum and Sheepshead. Clamming is another cool thing if you like clams. Low tide of course is best for that.  Good Luck and Gratz on the wedding.  Wink
