Planning on renting a boat out of Trixie's this weekend and taking my son and nephew out to do a little crabbing.  Could anyone tell me if they've been catching good number of crabs there later?  Also, I haven't been there in 10+ yrs and I'm not familiar with the area.  Do you normally have to travel far from the dock before you start catching good number of crabs?  I don't want to get lost in the bay. Nobody can give me any useful info regarding Trixie's?  I'm not looking for specific spots.

I haven't been there in a two years as I've concentrated on the Bayhead area. However, I've done well there before that. I've taken the boat out about 100 yards from the crabbing dock in the park and picked up a few dozen on several occasions. Keep out of the channel, the brainless yahoos won't cut you any slack if you're crossing slowly. If you're in a slow moving boat they look at you as if you've three heads, so beware.  There are plenty of crabs on the western side of the bay so you shouldn't have any trouble.
