esspecially after this winter...the water is gunna be colder than ussual so it won't warm up for longer which means shallows for longer!

  not yet, cw. my grandpa always said 51 degrees the majic number. he knew his [shiz] on eels so i live by that.

  i use the wire mesh type. my dad and his dad used pots made from 5 gal buckets. eels would pack so tite in them that they'd smother themselves. i never had much luck in them though. eels not around like they used to be.

  thinkin of gettin into some minnies this year. let me know if you have any advice. Grin

  ya man. sore subject with me.  looks like im gonna hafta find something else to do. gonna give up with them big eels and use up the rest of my crabs pottin bait eels this spring. had to pay up to 1.50 per crab in the past, cant make any money that way. what a shame Cry

  waterman, i meant advice about catchin minnows. however, i am happy to share any knowledge that you might need about eels. Smiley

  Best minnow trap i know of is the glass ones. Take a 1 gal. glass pickel jar  heat 1" steel rod red hot make 4 funnels around jar  take dremil tool and smooth up inside funnel cut 2 holes in lid to pass line through attach about 8oz lead to the line 8" up line from lid use small gillnet cork as a bouye . Brother  she will smokem. I also use a small seine catch them in marsh when tide falls. Do you use round or square eelpot?
