It has been another banner year for blue crab landings here on beautiful coastal Georgia. I take my grandkids out and show them the joys of crabbing. However, when I want to "put up crabs" in the freezer I now buy them by the bushel at $35.00 a pop. I cannot launch my boat and set my crab traps for that price.  Cool

I understand that "Economics" but where is the fun in that?  As a recreational crabber "Fun" must have a value or it is not even worth doing. Those grandkids will always remember Grandpa taking them out and having fun. Course maybe I am bias because my Gandpa and Grandma put the poison in my blood.

I wish I could have them with me now to show them how I do it..........I took my Mother with me a few times before she passed on and she said every time, "If my Daddy would see how you do this he would go nuts"..............

Somethings in life are just Priceless.............. but for everything else there is Master Card.......... Grin

That price is a little high for coastal Georgia as they are so plentiful now and most crabbers are not working much.............

Half Moon is the next Sound up from Sapelo Sound where I am located. The $35 per bushel price is weeks old. Crabs are cheaper now. Shrimp is now $2.50-$3.00 per lb with heads on. Shrimping with castnets has been excellent this month. Trout, Redfish and flounder catches have been excellent, too. The coast of Georgia is bountiful. On Georgia's coast we crab year 'round.
