How to steer & dip by your self ?

I have a 22 ft CC with a T top & unable to always have some one to drive or dip. Has anyone been able to rig something up to the steering wheel so you can reach it while dipping if alone, if so a picture would be great. I run a 1200' trot line if its flat & no wind boat will run stright down the line with very little steering, but add some wind or boat traffic & its another story.

I trotlined alone when i was 14, running 3000'.  I would hold the net in the water and steer with the other hand.  Then once I got some crabs in the net I would let go and dump the net.  This was out of an 18' CC.  If I was flat calm I barely had to touch the wheel.

My boat is a 17' CC but pulling, rebaiting, and dropping traps is tough alone.

I have a 14 foot alumacraft jon. I bought a tiller handle extension so I stand in front of the seat, put the prop stick behind the seat. I drive with my right hand and hold the net with my left. If I have to dip i use both hands usually and then get right back to the tiller. It all about being smooth and not jumping around throwing your weight around and moving the boat.

I haven't seen a rig with an offset steering wheel conected to the main wheel, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if there is some way you can set a wheel at the same height and angle as your wheel, you should be able to connect them with a bar or sturdy tube, provided they are connected at the same place on the wheel(ie 12o'clock and 12o'clock). For this to work you would have to make sure the wheels are the same diameter as well. To help visualize this draw two circles and connect the top of them with a line. Just an idea....

I guess what I'm trying to do is attach a pole to the wheel that I have now. I was thinking of like a suicide knob & attach a pole to it so I can push it up or pull it down to go left or right I was just wondering if anyone has come up with something like that.
