Why does the starting time change to 1/2 hour after sunrise in October? It makes no sense to me. I thought it may have something to do with waterfowl hunting?

After thinking about this for a while now I believe the answer came to me this morning. I think it's so the guys that are oystering will have time to get started before the rec crabbers put their gear in. It would be a mess if guys that are tonging would start raking up trotlines. I personally would avoid shell bottom this time of the year due to the sooks but thats just me.

It has to do with water temps & allowing crabbers to work longer in the day . Most of the rivers are sanctuarys for oysters so good luck finding handtongers around every turn . Grin
