does anyone have this thing? wow, i just got mine today and it looks like the badest burner i have ever seen.its the new bayou double jet burner,it comes with the 20 psi regulator and it is a beast but i took it one step further and i ordered a 40 psi reg....i will post pics when it gets here. i bet this will be as close to live steam as you can get!!!!
Well i got the 40psi reg and all i can say WOW!, the flame that comes out is about 4' high. It brings the water to a steam in about 40sec then i turn it back.....but the 20psi reg that comes with the burner is fine, so in short if i was to do it all over again i wouldn't have bought the 40psi reg....but it sure is a great conversation piece

It'll probably burn the bottom of your pot and your crabs. If you want live steam just get a small boiler and use live steam.

I use a high output burner similar to that and what I do is crank it up to start. Once I get a good steam going, back it back done just to the point of maintaining a good steam (you can barely hear it). From that point, it 17 mins til we eat crabs. I have the same SS pot for the last 7 years and never an issue. I have found if you dont back it down, it can run dry but the other issue that I found was that the crabs have a different taste if I dont. They are much sweeter if I turn it down. Also, you will use a ton of propane if you keep it on hi. I can get 7-8 steamings out of a bottle now versus 2-3 by running it wide open. Good luck and adjust as needed for your situation.

wow that is a lot of propane... I agree even with my burner.. I crank it up get steam going then back it down to where it just whisps steam out.... barely on w/o going out.. and they come out great... I do 8 minutes on a roll and then 15 down to whisp and they come out right on.. but each cooker seems to have their time/ sweet spot.... But I get a lot more than 7-8 pots on my tank though.... seems like a lot propane burning....
