At 0730 I tried out a new spot in a creek off of the Lower Potomac.  300 ft trotline with chicken necks in outgoing tide.  First run in 7.5 - 8 feet of water caught zero crabs.  Moved line about a mile closer to the Potomac main stem and put it out in 3.9 - 4.4 feet of water.  Caught 9 keepers on the first run and just as many little ones.  Made about 5 more runs and averaged about 4 - 5 keepers per run with an equal number of small crabs.  Since the grass is always greener somwhere else I moved the line at about 1030 back further in a bay in 4 feet of water and caught basically nothing.  So back to where I was having success but made it a little deeper 4 - 7 feet.  Averaged several keepers per run all coming from the 6.5 - 7 foot section of the line.   Ended up at noon with a solid half bushel.  Not bad considering all of the running around I did.

I've always heard you can catch crab when running around Smiley
