Hey Guys,

      i always thought if you were crabbing from a pier/bridge/shoreline you can use up to 10 traps w/o a license? I was on the DNR site (http://dnr.maryland.gov/service/fishing_license.asp) and while it states you you need a license for 11-30 traps it doesn't say 10 traps for rec crabbers w/o a license anymore... Anyone know for sure?


      Also...so if i'm on a boat... then i need a license regardless if i handline or use <10 traps?

I agree totally and that's why i have one, but i often bring friends(first time crabbers) along who usually don't have licenses. I just don't want it to turn in to a bad day....

If you have 10 traps and handline, from a pier or a boat you don't need a license. The thing to remember is, you are only allowed 2 dozen hard crabs.
