I am repeating this because I just left a report on the wrong board
From Monday July 25, 005
Best day in 3 years, daughter Vickycrab and I did very well in the creeks and ditches between Dividing Creek and the Delaware Bay including the bay. We filled a cooler and are going back today. The hottest spots seem to be around Beaver Dam, and also Maple creek. The old creek ship, our Cyn Mel Sue covered a lot of territory. We also caught crabs in the bay and in the King Pond in Egg Island Point. Last week we caught some nice crabs at the mouth of the Maurice River near where two ditches come out behind the East Point Lighthouse. I thought maybe the creek days were about over, but the crabs are back. Not monsters yet like the old days, but these were average 5.5 to 6 inches, the biggest 6.3/4 inches. The biggest was caught by Vickycrab in Maple Pond at 6.5/8 inches. The crabs are back! It will be a great fall for crabbing also. Today we take as guests, trooper John and his son JT, going on their first trip of the season and JT's first trip ever. He is only 5 and just got back from fishing in Canada. The Capt will take a break Thursday to fly to Jacksonville Florida to visit his first grandchild, Daniel William, who is the likely heir to the crabbing throne. Today there is a big heat advisery, the Capt loves crabbing in heat waves, the crabs just seem more aggressive, and low tide in a heat wave is his favorite. Crabs seem to surface easier, letting you net them near the water line in many places. Capt Williecrab, creek explorer in the 21'rst Century!
