I have been lurking around this board for a few months gathering information and gleaning advice.  I finally got out for the first time all season on 9/21.  I got bunker at DCBR when he opened the door at 6:10 and drove over to Turkey Point with bunker, chicken necks and eight traps.  WHAT A GREAT DAY!  I had traps in the water by 6:30.  Tide was running out.  I had three traps I purchased from DCBR last year and five that I made.  One trap I made had some sort of serious malfunction on the bottom because it didn't catch a single crab all day.  I found the bunker was a much better bait than the chicken ( so much in fact I stopped using the chicken by 10:30).  I got over three dozen nice heavy keepers (I only keep bigger that five inches and no girls).

The fishing was not so great for me. I usually get some perch, spot, short strippers and black bass.  My gear is fresh water and it just wasn't working for me.  About 8:00 two guys showed up to do some serious fishing a crushed the perch, as well as one keeper stripper and a black bass. Wasn't my day for the fish.

I was done by 1:30 with my cooler of crabs, I bid the guys fishing good luck and went over to check out the new ramp that was built on the trib to Dividing Creek (Hensey Creek Road, I think).  I put my boat in on the old ramp and was afraid i wouldn't be able to get my car out with the mud but the new ramp looks awesome... maybe next week if the water in still warm.

NJ regulations state 4 1/2 inches. You know something I don't?

Thats why i posted it in the Jersey thread...  Five inch crab isn't so bad, it is what you make of it.  Forty crabs, couple of friends; the glass is half full if you know what I'm saying.  Besides Jersey crabs taste better than MD crabs.

I heard Nick failed the pinch test when he let out a high pitched squeal when you tweaked him during this year's Assault on Patcong Creek.

This year my buddy got me the crab master and so far it works like a champ so even little crabs are pretty easy.

What type of bait were the fisherman using?

Bloodworms, frozen peanut bunker and some minnows from my trap (killies and what look like smelt). Mostly bloodworms.

It wasn't so much of a squeal.....more like the way a teenage girl shakes and screams when she sees her favorite boy band Wink
