Got to DCBR at 7.00 am Gnats were horrible thought about bagging it. Guy at dock said complain or ignore them
We took his advise and headed out went under RT 553 and stopped no more than 200 yards from bridge in center of creek, Used hand lines and round drop nets Action and gnats was steady. eels and turtles were tearing up bunker. Had several up in nets. Wound up with 135 keepers plenty of throw backs and misses on hand line by a rookie. Only slow down on slack tide but still picked. Came in at 2.00 pm. Love to get in one more trip but this was last week for daily opening. Anybody out there heard of using corn cobs for bait? Or did someone pull my leg. Everytime I try to post pictures I get an error?

Awesome job ! I will be down sometime early this weekend. I never venture more that a half mile from the place with great success ! How were the sizes and did you get alot of big females ? I notice the big girls picked up a bit when i was there last week. Gnats are a bitch on muggy days w not much wind there.

Sweet ! I crab the channel in the main stretch witihin a half mile of DCBR near Curley's Creek right on the edge of the center channel in about 6-8 foot of water. Two week ago lots of big girls showed up there, but we were also coming off a full moon and I always get alot of them then at that phase. The tides were also extreme and swift last trip out. Things seemed to settle a bit w the wind and rain this week so I'm looking forward to a nice trip out. I always use four lines w turkey necks and a few traps w bunker just anchored up. Funny how they tear up the turkey necks on the hand lines , but dont bother it in the cage as much. Last trip they were all loaded w meat and heavy. Shame they are closing up after columber day. With this warm weather sticking around we should do good til Halloween there . Also noticed lots of life other than crabs there...turtles, eels, puppy drum. Def had lots of other creatures tearing up my bait as well. I may have to bring my rod this time around.

You can use anything for Bait, I have even heard of someone try using Potatos, The question is will you catch anything
Give it a try Just don't tell anyone unless it works,
Nice Job on the crabs
