And i'm hooked. My family doesn't really care for the mustard so i decided to try live cleaning and steaming. Worked out so much better. No messy guts to deal with while eating plus u can add alittle extra flavour to the meat while steaming. I tried only 2 dozen which i steamed for about 20 minutes compared to 30 minutes. If i would do a whole pot each is about a 1/2 a bushel still cook for 30 min?

30 minutes should be plenty.

That's the only way I've had crabs, so I definitely endorse this post.  You can season the meat so much better and it's less of a cause for concern cleaning all that mess out.

cleaning before cooking releases all the natural juice inside of the crab, therefore limiting the amout of taste the meat can develop. sure you can add seasoning and flavor the meat, but I like the taste of crab, therefore a bit of seasoning on the meat, after its fully steamed is great with me... Culinary suicide to the crab!

We need to have a crab sauce cook off next year at the Wye event to settle this once and for all.
