I am thinking of getting into black Powder and buying a .50 cal break action muzzle loader for around $300. Can any shooters out there recomend a model thats safe and accurate for this price?

My dad and I have been shooting Omega's for 5 years and they have never let us down. The only other one i would like to have is the Triumph because the removal of the breach plug is easier but if you grease the threads and had tighten the omea's it comers out easier. I would get the Omega!

Thompson center. Pick the model you like. They're all outstanding black powder guns for the price. don't get sucked into buying anything else.

If you do choose a T/C the shockwave sabots they make work well in them, i think they give you a sample of 5 when you buy your gun. Just make sure they are the yellow tipped non bonded ones, they expand more and do more damage.

Was told that some of the nickel barrels that traditions puts out are more prone to pitting than stainless steel or blued. not sure how legit it is just putting it out there.

That is the one that I have and I love it.Easy to clean(which is very important) It is also very accurate, but I take really good care of my guns etc. I have seen some which I cant believe people even shoot! They do not clean them much if ever, very bad idea.

yeah but just for does....I'm not a big fan of it....( didnt hunt with ml his year)....it just puts more scent and traffic in the woods for archery season
... you can kill the does in rifle season so it really dosent make much sense to me to have a doe only muzzleloafer season..

I disagree...with respect.
Less does you have, the better or more active your rut will be.
Take em now, before the rut.....and take em after it too.
