Did my usual last trip in early November yesterday at the Tred Avon....got there about 7 AM....had one open spot to park.  Most were big rigs heading out to fish.  It was chilly but the water was like glass.  I think the water temp was around 53 degrees. I started my trot line (deep for me) about 13 ft (the floats were almost under water) and I went out toward the Choptank near the middle of the channel. First couple of runs nothing.....then got (2), one pretty good size near 7".  I could have taken them out of the net in my hand.  They were so slow-moving....it was funny like they were drugged.   I  did about 10 runs with 6-7 crabs....couple throwbacks. Moved once back toward landing staying near the channel in the Tred river...(3) more runs and nothing.  Thought this might be  it for the day.

Finally on a hunch...I dragged my 600 ft. line across the entrance to Tar Creek.  Probably in about 5-6 ft of water.  Bingo!  They were not monsters, but heavy mudders ( 5 1/2 to 6"). Was seeing about 3 a run....however, a lot were dropping off the line, which I think was due to really heavy sun glare or because the water temp was different in the creek (?)  I actually put my dipper about 2-3 ft into the water right in front of the baits as they came up...now that is a first for me....but  it worked pretty well.   In just about 1 1/2 hours there, nabbed another 25 or so.   I believe if I would started there in the morning I could have had probably got 3/4 to full bushel, oh well.....but had to settle for just little less than a 1/2 bushel...about 30-32 keepers.

That's it for me....one last good day of crabbing and of course later that evening....steamed crabs and cold beer....life is good!

Take care and be safe out there.
