Really enjoyed watching that. If we lived close we would take you out on our boat anytime-you could teach us a lot!

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm no expert, so I dunno just how much teaching would transpire lol!

Use a ziptie on the tag end of the knot ittl never come undone. Couldve used a large rock and tied a package knot to hold it, sometimes u gotta learn to b Mc Giver out there. lost anchors before dont stop me. Nice video, looks like u got quite a set up there. i would have never thought it could b done like that, but seeing is believing.

Zip tie...gotta re-up on those.

In my first video when I was crabbing on the Severn, I actually DID use boulders for my anchor after realizing I didnt have enough weight. I did just what you said...tied it up in a package..worked like a charm. When I lost my anchor on this trip, I was just frustrated at that point and said "F it!"

This kayak is designed with an integrated MinnKota 36lb thrust trolling motor. It's made by Ocean Kayak...the model is called the "Torque". This is my first year with it and I absolutely love it. I use a group 24 battery which allows me to run the trotline for hours on end while crabbing. (Perhaps when I get better, trips will be shorter lol) Steering is accomplished with the rudder via foot pedal controls, so I am 100% hands free once I have my throttle at the desired setting. It gets the job done for me.

I got a quick shot of the motor at 5:44 in the video.

If you see me out there, feel free to swing by and say hello (throttle down first though please  laugh )

There will be a little kayak floatilla on the South River tomorrow morning. We have monthly meet & greets all over the area. Most will be fishing for stripers. I'll be crabbing, along with my buddy who'll be using his traps from his kayak.

Neat set-up

I've been trying to figure out how to best go about crabbing from my kayak. I enjoyed your video. We don't really use that technique in Louisiana very much. I had never seen it done until your video. I can't wait to get my pro angler outfitted for a test run. How long of a line do you usually run?

I have never had a bolen knot fail. They are quick and easy with any type of rope. Keep up the good work!!

I agree 100%.  I use this knot for EVERYTHING, and I've never had it come un-done.  There are several variants (bowline on a bight, double looped, etc.), and they all hold forever.
Another bonus to the bowline knot is that, even though it holds so well, it's easy to take out if desired.
