Well, the 2011 season is over for me. I droppped 20 traps in 12-18 feet and only managed 6 crabs in 2 hours. I let them go for another time. Water temp was 61.
Guess its time for rockfish then goose hunting.
Have a safe winter and see you next year.

Thanks for the report.. Im going to the severn Sunday for the same deal. I know it won't be worth our time, but it's been a tradition for me and my old man. I guess its not about the crabs, if you know what i mean.

I know what you mean. I've been crabbing the Severn all my life. It was nice to get out one more time before it got too cold. Although the rain didn't make it ideal. Have fun and good luck!

Went to the Severn on 10/25 got on the water at 3:30 set up in 12/18 ft caught about 10 keepers by 4:30 so decided to try shallow
headed back towards Smiths and set up in 4/5 ft caught almost 3/4 of a bushel by 6 .Had the same luck at Thompson creek on  10/22 caught crabs shallow there as well .Should have went shallow right away at the Severn but it is hard to make yourself put your line that shallow this late.

I don't think they will be in the shallows this weekend. Im dropping traps 16 to 18 feet.

Went 10/21 on the Severn. 1 bushel out of 15-18 feet and then one bushel out of 3-10 feet. One 1200' line, two locations on the Severn. The shallower line filled up a basket in 3 runs! The most productive crabbing trip I've ever had in my life thus far.
