Dropped 30 traps at 1:30 pm incoming tide. water temp 59 deg put traps in 8 to 5 feet of water. First pull 12 keepers and it stayed good catching a few double keepers each run many traps had 3 or 4 crabs in them . Only had time for 5 runs ended up with 64 crabs 3/4 Bu ! Not anther boat to be seen on the creek or in the Little Choptank wish I had more time or would have had a Bu with one more run crabbed to 5pm . They should be here for a few more weeks.

Pretty Work! Thanks for the report and pics! The pic of the creek brings back lot of memories! Did you find any black pepper disease in those crabs? When I was a kid, we would find a lot of it in them out of Slaughter Creek late in the fall and early in the spring. It didn't hurt us or change the flavor it just looked like pepper in the meat.

Those appear pretty dark from the first picture. Bet they were full and rock hard. You just inspired me to possibly go crabbing this Sunday. Way to go.

KI did not have any black pepper spots this time I did see that this spring however . Triton glad I inspired you to go, the crabs in Slaughter Creek are allways pretty muddy for some reason. I plan on going again next weekend the locals tell me that spot is good till the season closes ! If you plan on going there I would be glad to give you more details good luck

I live right on Hearst Creek, which is just above the Hyatt on the Choptank. My wife spent 7 weekends camping at Tall Pines in VA this year. Tall Pines in very nice, but we live on what I consider to be one of the most beautiful rivers/bays in the country. While she is camping, I stay home and crab. I try to explain to her that she has a campfire ring on the patio in the back yard, pool, and a beautifl view of the water. I have a hard time understanding why she wants to spend over $100 a weekend camping, when she has it all in her own back yard. Not to mention a more comfortable bed. When you already live in paradise, it makes finding some place better very difficult.

Hey Big, you hit the nail on the head!!! I grew up and spent many a minute above Cambridge on the Choptank. Couldn't wait to get away from there, & now sure wish I could convince my wife to go back.. What, leave the grandchildren, That ain't happenin.
Went to Secretary in August. It was blowin pretty good so my nephew & I laid a 700' line in the Warwick. Had a crab on nearly every bait, would lose 2 or 3 while emptying the dipnet. 50 to 75% were too small to keep but we still had a bushel of nice ones in a couple hours. Man that was some fun dippin.
