I have.Had a nice buck lay down in the woods behind me in some real thick cover and didn't move for almost 4 hours.We only hunt the field edges and leave the woods and swamp as sanctuaries.Finally it was getting dark and he still didn't move so I tried rattling and he got up almost instantly and walked to me and I took him.

I've also been successful rattling on 4 different occasions. Never hurts to try it and if a buck is within earshot maybe he will check it out. Just don't overdo it, maybe try every 45 min. to 1 hour or so.

Hunted yesterday and today, tried rattling but, nothing.

Saton one of the large Ag fields last night, saw 25 does and one small 6pt. From the way they acted last night, dont look like the rut is on yet.

6'er got within 40yds of me and I stuck em.

I have never rattled a deer in but I have grunted a deer in. I was hunting and only had one arrow. I lost my other arrows and just didn't have time to get more. I just thought I will only need one. If I miss the deer will run away and I will not get a second shot. I was grunting every 15 min to 30 min and heard a deer come from behind me at 20 yards. I turned around and put my sights on the deer. I leaned back to take the shot as the tree was in my way. I pulled the trigger and my cross bow hit me on the side of my face.  Angry I missed the deer and it ran away. At least it did for about 20 feet. It turned around and came back at me. No arrow and no second shot!  Cry It was a good 8 pointer and would have been the biggest one I ever shot. This was last year.

Also the rut is on. I saw a very nice Buck in a field chasing a doe around this morning. I am going to go hunting this Saturday. Good luck to everyone.

Havent tried rattling, but i know the can/ grunt call i tried this morning didnt interest a buck i saw working a scrape. Going out again Sat. have to try it then. Nice shot Chris.

Rattling should do well pre-rut......what I believe most of us are in now is the chase phase.....when the rut is in, deer movement should be minimal as the buck is sitting with his doe waiting for herto say "ok".

I've tried rattling several times. Never had any success. I think it would work better where the buck to doe ratio is higher. Here in northern Maryland, there are a lot of does for the bucks to choose from. I have been working in the fields for the farmer where I hunt this week at night. I have seen a bunch of huge does by themselves. I have seen a couple small buck too, but none of them were near each other. This leads me to think that the rut has not set in up here yet.

rattled a button buck and a small 4 pt once...lol...I dont use during the rut ...does dont come to rattling and where I hunt right now the bucks are wherever the does are Wink  Ive seen them work on tv....but not for me  Wink

I mowed last night until midnight at Benson Mill and Black Rock. I would think there would be some nice buck in that area. I sure haven't seen them.  Huh Maybe they don't like me cutting down all their "safety stalks".... Shocked

Rattled 2 in yesterday, small ones. Saw the biggest buck in my life trailing two does, out of bow range. So yes, I agree too that the rut is in.
