Got this big fella Friday morning in the Pines of Southern Jersey. Good deer for around here. Grunted him in. He ran straight to the food looking for does. Was out of my tree by 6:40 am. I've been hunting for 20+ years. I think this may only be the 3rd or 4th deer I've taken in the morning. First time I sat this particular piece. I knew there was a nice buck in there....road walking in all scraped up. He was working the area hard. Didn't go far but ran straight to the swamp of course...It was fun getting him out of there. Worth it. A full day of work after that as well. Was a very rewarding and memorable hunt.

That's a unique way of baiting the deer. Fill your truck up with sweet potatoes, park on the shoulder of the road, and wait...

Congrats. Excellent buck for that area. I used to hunt the Mizpah area back in the 60's and early 70's, we could only dream of seeing a rack like that. Is the Four Sixes club still in existance down there?

Not sure. I stay as far away from clubs as possible. It does sound familiar though. Thanks for the compliments everyone.

That is a very nice deer. I always like bucks with long tines over the ones with wide racks and shorter tines.

Me too, Four Sixes is/was in Weymouth. Only reason I remember it is they have a planted field and we used to go there at night occsionally to watch 'em feed (by out headlights). It was the only time I ever saw 2 bucks going head-to-head in person.
