Pack up for our move to Florida and try to get a FL commercial license.  Install a new plotter and radar on my boat.

I need to build a new propstick end. My line has almost worn thru my PVC fittings. I may try to build it out of 2" copper this time. When copper starts wearing, soldier is a quick easy rebuild on it.

It'll probabably get stolen.  And it will probably wear faster then PVC.

That's always a possibility. When it is not in use it comes totally free from the boat and lays down inside the boat or truck pretty well. I wonder if there is somewhere I could find out the abrasion difference between PVC and copper. When I was a kid, we used a 2"copper slide that held up for about 8 years. It had a bunch of soldier on it but it was also made out of DWV and not K or L copper which is what I was considering.....

for the price of copper now a days, you can pay someone to build you one out of SS and still pay less......and never have to repair it for many many years.

Jack, I am sure you can find a small day sailer for a song and fix it up  But there is nothing like building your own boat. If you go to the dark side  Wink       Reseach, Reseach, There is so much help and plans out there in internet land.  But I warn you it is addictive.  As soon as you start you will be planning the next one in your head Grin I almost built The Jimmy Skiff from CLC    http://jimmyskiff.blogspot.com   but built the San Juan dory instead  wanted a larger boat. Which turn out to be heavier, needs a trailer ect, might have been nice to have a car topper skiff for those  back waters no one can get to. So I could crab by myself    Maybe I will build it this year Grin  IT IS ADDICTIVE Grin

Not to get off topic but did you ever finish that motorcycle that you were working on Jack I don't remember ever seeing pictures of it when it was done.  Undecided

It is almost impossible to find purple hose.  The closest I could find is sort of berry colored.  Some of the haters on here called it pink. laugh laugh laugh

I want to but due to recent events and predictions of future ones, I just might be a crab potter again.  I may have an opportunity to buy a friend's 1000 pot rig. Plus, the first time I advertised it, I was more into just testing the waters.  I have a 33' hull thats nice and wide Im considering starting on, if I do, I would have to sell the boat in order to put a diesel in the 33.

I forgot to mention I am going to add a full keel to her also.

Last year a friend of mine's boat broke down so I ran mine for him.  We wasted time finding rows of pots, half of the pots were in 25' of water, and we got 31 bushels.  But we managed to run about 450 by about 11:00 am.  If all the pots were in 10-15' we coulda rolled. 

So given that I had two shakers who could switch in and out, I think I could do 900 in a long day.

Interestingly enough Ron,we found using our pontoon boat to run a trotline very difficult,so we bought a Skiff.What size is yours ? I did talk to one of my Amish neighbors who uses his pontoon successfully,I'll be curious to see how it works out,and hopefully be your dipper a few times
